Lorinda Gambill began The Cat's Meow in 1991 as a cottage sewing contractor
for an heirloom baby clothes wholesaler. Several years later, she designed
a small line of traditional, embroidered, matching "ribbon" dresses for
girls and dolls. Lorinda marketed this line at large, urban craft shows in
the Southeast and through her website. As time went on, and the children
were grown, a brick and mortar store seemed like the next logical step.
The Cat's Meow in historic Bell Buckle, TN opened in June of 2002 with a
"new to us" commercial embroidery machine. The goal was to offer gifts for
monogramming with quick turnaround for the town with a population of 450 and
the many visitors Bell Buckle enjoys.
This website is an extension of our store. We hope it feels
"comfortable"and is a place you will want to visit often.
